XC70 has a protective plastic at front as far as know.
Does it eliminate sense to install a nose mask?

absolutely eliminates the need... it's built in!

Might want to consider a clear bra for the front edge of the hood and headlight/fog protection, aside from that all good! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I don't think the clear edge strip for the hood is necessary. I have almost 0 chips up front. Volvo's paint is much harder than whatever was on all of my jeeps.

I would mostly agree with the responses so far. My '86 Volvo hood has but two very small nicks and it's been driven all over the place. The vertical front is a different matter. This speaks well for the XC70's nose which is well protected.

No need for a front bra nor any hood protection.

The fog lights could benefit from clear lens covers and maybe you should also consider some form of protection for those $350 headlights, or more if you have the Bi-xenon versions.

I would say that it really depends on the circumstances. Here in Alberta, both city and provincial hwy. crews really lay down the gravel during the winter season.

I've noticed that the clear protective urethane strip installed on the leading edge of my hood considerably helps to absorb much of the impact from small stones that are thrown up by other vehicles. Gets worse in the spring when the cleanup crews don't get around to sweeping up the piles of gravel. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Might also be a good idea to get a touch-up paint kit from your dealer. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Can't say that I'm a real big fan of the hood bras/masks. Here's a pic of what one looks like on an XC.

...and for those concerned about chips on their painted side view mirrors, how about this approach? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

NO! Bra's, Bull guards etc identify one as a 'Weenie Wanna Be' in Northern Wisconsin where driving off road is sometime as frequent as on road. Even going through brush or harvested corn fields where I can HEAR the vehicle being scraped, the paint has held up great. Small branches etc are crushed under the wheels. Just remember to look under the vehicle after and remove any brush or cornstalks that are hanging. Many people use vans and 2 wheel drive pickups like SUV's and survive just fine. -Dick

I agree with others, no bra or protection needed for the XC. And the strip on the hood doesn't look that good either in Art's picture, but that grill on the other hand is very nice!!! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/exclamation.gif

Definitely no bra for our xc, it is like having a leather case for cell phone, if you know what I mean:-)

Not as nice as the standard factory grille though!!

Actually I did like the cute little mirror mitten pic that Art posted - from Japan I presume? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif
