Changing thermostat in 05 XC90 V8

It appears my wife's thermostat is worn out and stuck open - slow to heat up/not much heat in cab. Very bad with the belows due to set in this next week. I am guessing the thermostat is located on the left side of the motor under the intake, etc where the large radiator hoses terminate at the engine. Any tips to make changing out the thermostat as easy as possible?

That definitely helps. I was thinking the thermostat was located on the opposite side of the engine.
