I changed the motor on my XC 70 and now there is a noise from the power steering pump area, The power steering works fine but it really loud. What should I do? Also fan runs all the time.

Most likely the air in the system. If bleeding the system doesn't fix it, you want want to check if the fluid in the system is right kind of fluid and you have the right amount in the reservoir.

Also, take a look at the reservoir itself. Mine was doing the same thing but the fluid was at the proper level. I thought I needed to replace the pump or rack & pinion. Turns out the reservoir has a plastic diverter at the top inside to push the return fluid to the bottom to prevent bubbling. It can/does break off causing the fluid to bubble at the top. These bubbles can get sucked into the pump causing cavitation and the noise you are hearing that sounds like you're low on fluid. I ordered a new one and it should arrive today. They cost about $60 plus with free shipping from http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/9263/Power-Steering-Reservoir-30665496/

Changing it is pretty straight forward but if you need help here's a good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOUElRbsuQE

The video says it's for an S60 but it's the same procedure.

Hope this helps [thumbup]
