Hi, we sold our v70 this summer, and still have the winter wheel/tire combos from it. 215/55r16 Blizzaks. I'm wondering if they will work on our 2004 xc70. Other than about .9" less ground clearance and the speedo being off, what other issues might I run into? The tires were only used one season so I'd like to use them if possible.

Thanks!

Of course you are loosing the ground clearance which tends to be of a more value in snow.

But, in snow, if I had to choose between clearance and snow tires, that would be a no-brainer for tires.

Yeah, losing a tad less than an inch isn't a big deal to me, The icy and hard packed snow is more of a problem here. The roads get plowed pretty quickly after a major snowfall. And there's always the F350 if things get too deep! I'm more concerned with higher rpms and potential steering/handling issues. (if any) The tires worked great on the v70.

I wouldn't worry about it...

However, it may look a bit "goofy" with the XC ride height

Yes, they will look a bit odd, but they'll only be for this season. I can live with goofy for 4 months if that's the biggest problem.

Big difference in circumference. So speedometer will be off...ground clearance reduced.

Wife declared she would NOT drive a car with funny looking tires. Removed the offending 215/55R16's, sold them at a small profit and replaced them with some 215/65R16's. Live and learn.

When I bought my 03 they had the V70 tires on them and yes, they do look goofy. But since they are in good shape and I have other projects ($$$) in the works I'll just keep running them until they need replaced.
