Pardon me for saying this... but for those of you whom have benefited from this forum in purchasing, getting problems resolved and just getting to know your auto in more depth, this is a good time of the year to send some form of appreciation to Taylor(coastal) for supporting this site.

You can click on the "Make a donation" button way down at the bottom of the web page.

Happy New Year to ALL -- and kudos to Taylor for making this such an invaluable XC70 site. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Taylor,

For once I actually agree with Barry. The world is an amazing place, for sure. My $20 is on the way. Great job, keep the lights on!

Very very much appreciated guys, thanks a ton!

Next on my list is to complete the forum software conversion, then integrate a product review software package, which I think will make a really nice addition to the community. Your donations will help to purchase the review software in addition to helping with the costs of hosting volvoxc.com. Luckily we have Combustion donating the forum website (xc70.com) hosting, but I recently moved the volvoXC.com domain to a paid service to help balance out the traffic load. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Best of the season to you all and thanks again!

Taylor.

I may be a newbie, but at least I can recognize a good thing when I come across it! Donation on the way Taylor.

It's the stangest thing - I'm looking to purchase a new car this spring and it will likely be the folks participating in forums, not the sales persons which ultimately determine my choice.

Btw, on our way to Pender Island for New Years so I will bring my raincoat. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

One idea that we floated a long time ago was having a paying member status next to our names...something like they do on Rennlist.com. That way, even though not mandatory, many people sign up to help defray the costs.

Just like spending a few hours down at the pub with some virtual mates!,

This time without the hangover the next day

Have a great new year and continue to develop the site for us, perhaps a right-hand-drive version could be considered http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This may seem like a silly question, but do the proceeds from the window decal help support the site? I am happy to donate, but I had assumed that at least part of the money spent on decals went to the site. True, it was only $3, but I'll feel pretty guilty if I haven't even given a dime when I assumed that my $3 was going to help fund the website.

Good question NeuDaddi, http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The $3.00 is just enough to cover the cost of the decal and postage. Any profits derived from sales will ultimately go back to the website. Admittedly, these things haven’t been selling like hot cakes, so I’ve purposely kept the supply orders down to a minimum of 20 at a time.

Other than being a veteran member, I have no other affiliation or direct involvement concerning the site...selling the stickers is just my way of trying to help Taylor spread the word. In a span of almost 2.5 years, I’ve seen what had once started out as just a hobby for him, quickly evolve into the ultimate site for XC enthusiasts around the globe. Speaks volumes for the dedicated work he’s accomplished to date. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Actually, the few bucks Art makes beyond his cost should really stay with him for the time and effort he takes in having the decals produced and mailing them out. That's the way I see it at least http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

And on that note, thanks a ton for organizing the decals Art... I'm sure it goes without saying that everyone appreciates your longstanding commitment to helping get the word out.. cheers to Art! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I'm still looking forward to seeing another XC out there on the streets of Vancouver with one on their car. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks a ton for the comments and donations thus far guys, very, very much appreciated! I'm still deciding on the best way on how to highlight each member as a supporter, either a custom (secondary) avatar or adding you all to a special forum group.

Cheers n Happy New Year!

Taylor.

Taylor: How about different colour stars? More $$$ for different colors good for XX months. Titanium for the $100+ donations. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for the explanation regarding the window decal proceeds. Maybe Art should charge a dollar or two more?

Now that I know, a "real" donation has been made.

I also thought the decal donation was going to the 'club', sorry for the missinterp. Hate pressing the button below as you never know where you are going, (don't have a pen-pal or pay-pal account thingy).

Will give it a try and who knows might resort to good old fashion snail mail with a couple of bills enclosed. Maybe you could explain to me what lays behind 'the button' Taylor. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

Anyhow hope I got an another member to join today, that counter sure is riding high now. When I get my decals maybe a few more might see it join as well. Such a small thing for big BIG gains.

How about someone setting an international time for all of us to get on line together, would love to blow the socks off that machine of Taylor's (and maybe blow it up as well) ouch... when he sees 1200+ members online together he will know his hard work was worth it, maybe we could set a new world record? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Thanks again you guys... this is all very much appreciated and I'm still deciding on how to identify those who've donated..

On that note AWD*V70XC, perhaps we should set up a scheduled live chat some time in the near future... I think it'd be interesting to chat with you guys in a more candid setting. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hmmmm -- ideas like this ARE good. Now.... how about iSight from Apple and we could get an all time online crowd size grinning at each other and showing off their wheels. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I've already used iSight to audio/video chat with friends in Italy. The UK is closer!!!!!!

The nice thing about all this iSight stuff is that the online time is free (ignoring ones constant monthly high-speed line cost) unlike a telephone call.

Toots!

Yippeeee! Techno-weenie here finally figured out how to register with PayPal and make a donation. Who knows? Maybe I'll even buy something on eBay now.

Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication Taylor! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

(Hmmm, I wonder how I could go about creating a cool avatar like Gundo's and Chipshot's. Maybe even post a photograph or two... http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )

A web conference sounds great, thanks AWD. iSight won't work for me - it seems for me that anything Apple screws up my PC (goes under the covers and changes too many settings for my liking).

AOL have a messenger service which is private, does not require you to have anything to do with AOL (just download the software AND supports a voice channel. (I haven't checked whether video is supported 'cos I don't have a webcam).

I'm happy to stump up some dollars, but I will NOT use Pay Pal because there were so many dodgy looking T's and C's. I am happy to use World Pay or anything just requiring a credit card (secure) transaction.

Any comments Taylor??

thanks,

slender

I would use PayPal but every time I hit the `make donation` button I get an error screen appear.

Is this my end or yours, Coastal??

Hi guys,

slender, the problem sounds like an issue with your browser which seems to be processing the form incorrectly. If you have a PayPal account, you can login to your account and send funds to [email protected] which is the email address I have set up for managing my PayPal account.

In terms of alternate payment methods, I decided on PayPal because they're probably the most widely known name in reasonably priced Internet payment systems. I submit that no, PayPal cannot be regarded as highly as a bank in terms of assurances, but by being owned by what is one of the largest Internet companies (eBay.com (http://www.ebay.com)) today, I'm personally quite comfortable in transacting through them as I have for quite some time.

I don't really want to get into a situation where I have multiple transaction service accounts set up with different companies so as another option, you can mail a cheque to my office made out to Servoweb Technologies Inc. if you prefer:

VolvoXC.com Contribution
c/o Servoweb Technologies Inc.
4960 Water Lane
West Vancouver, British Columbia
Canada
V7W 1K5

Be sure to make a note of your screen name and/or email address in the envelope or on the cheque so I know who to attribute the contribution to when I have the chance to identify supporting members in the forum system. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hope that helps and thanks for the assistance everyone again, this is very much appreciated!

Taylor.

I can't believe the gap between this post and the last one!!!! I am sure my 'sub' must be up for renewal, so this year I will be winging Coastal CA$2 for each week of the year (less my 2 weeks annual holidays) making a contribution grand total of $100.

This year has seen a lot of new members joining and a lot of interest in the ETM problems we have or will have and for that I am really grateful this site exists. I hope this small contribution allows the site to continue serving all XC owners Worldwide with the knowledge it will be around for at least another year. Long live volvoxc.com

Thanks for all your effort Taylor during the last year and a very Happy Christmas to you and your family.
