I have been using a forward cross pattern on my 2004 XC70 and 2004 S60R. I recently saw a post that says to never cross sides on a AWD vehicle. At 90,000 miles both of mine are doing well and I cross the tires every 5,000 miles and wear is great. What do you guys think about this?

Do you really think is makes any difference on the AWD system how you rotate your tires?

Forward cross.

This is what I use and not an X pattern. My mistake! So you use this on an AWD Volvo and have no problems?

I go front to back

This is the correct answer according to "the book!" Then again, I haven't rotated mine in 30,000 miles and they are still silky smooth and worn pretty evenly :)

Front to back is the correct way, however, Volvo doesn't recommend rotating tires now.

I noticed in my 2004 manual you only rotate twice (7500 and 22500) then never again. I have been doing this since we bought in 2003 and it works well.

Yep. No problems, after 50k miles all tires are within 1/32nd of each other.
