2006 XC 70 engine system service light and performance failure

my 2006 xc70 auto has started to have an issue since the amber engine system service required light has come up. All of a sudden it seems sluggish and revs very high before changing gear with a clunk. It seems to have lost its power when you put your foot down.

Your first step will be to have the codes read. Vida software will give you the most information, but some generic scanners can give you limited information. Then the diagnosis can continue from there. There are really too many variables to guess at without clues from the self diagnostics.

Starting with the 05s you need to buy a code reader that can read a CAN car, my older reader for instance, will not

Yes, bus speed changed from 250 kbs to 500 kbs? in 2005 I think. Some of my old generic scanners won't read the newer cars.
