Well the car is only two months old and it finally happened! You always expect that first door ding, cring when you get it and then life moves on! This weekend someone backed into the front of the car when it was parked and knocked the front plastic cladding off the mounts! The force was hard enough to even pull one of the fog-lights out of the socket.

We took the car to the local service center and they were able to remount the plastic and replace the fog-light. Thank goodness for the lower labor costs in Korea, the whole effort was only about $150 US.

With the deductible on the insurance it was not even worth filing a claim. Waste of an entire day!

What really got me was the fact some knucklehead hit the car and did not even have the courtsey to leave a note.

Still no door dings yet! Hopefully that was the worst of yet. (Yeah, Right&#33http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Sorry to hear that people in Korea can be just as discourteous as those elsewhere.  I hope it wasn't someone you know.  Acquaintances are often the most "shy" about reporting such events.   http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

You are right, people are pretty much the same around the world. Just a bit upsetting that the first "blemish" introduced by a dis-courteous person was something of this magnatidue. For everyone with a brand new XC70, remember when that first parking lot door ding occurs, it could be worse  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

On that note, has anyone tried those door ding removers that go for $19.95 on tv?

RJB, sorry to hear about the car...which service dealer did you take it to?  my car finally made it on peninsula 25 Feb on the Asian Majesty.  Should have it by the 28th (fingers are crossed).  Our first trip will be to Pocheon for some good kalbi and up to Bearstown for some skiing.  Still haven't seen your car around post but my co-worker has.  He says the XC70 is better in person than on the internet.
