Quality issues addressed for 2002 XC ?

This is an informative site! (Thanks) Have the quality issues associated with the 2000-2001 XC's been addressed in 2002: Front brakes, headlights & other bulbs, door panels, engine stalls, door locks, misc. electrical problems. We are considering a 2002 XC & are concerned with the issues that we have reviewed in this forum. Our local dealer has provided a positive experience thus far. We are replacing a 1998 Ford Explorer. Also, confused about the gas mileage. Is the data stated on the window sticker what we should expect 19 - 25 mpg?? Thanks for the input.

I can't comment about the fixing of quality control problems other than to say that in the 2500 miles that I have had my '02 XC I have had no problems at all.

My wife's 2wd '98 V70 XLT with 75,000 miles has been wonderfully dependable with no problems as you have described (it has the same engine as the XC).

My typical gas mileage is right at 20.0 mpg, long trips of extended expressway driving give me about 24 mpg.

I have an '01 XC and am averaging 21.5 with mixed driving. I have had 25.6 hwy early on when I was babying it. Having too much fun driving it now to get that same mileage. Good to know I can do it if I want.
