My dealership has yet to show me a Platinium Green metalic XC70 2003 with all graphite interior. Since this what we've ordered I'd sure appreciate anyone who has one in this color/interior combo to post a pic or two for us. Alternatively if anyone knows where a pic is located on the Web that would be good also.

Thanks, and my sales person is on the lookout.

I'm curious -- is Platinium Green and Ruby Red not popular?

Hey Barry, http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I realize this photo doesn't give you a true depiction of your color, but I'm afraid it's the best I could come up with.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Sorry, no interior shots.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

These are platinum greens too right? I've never seen the colour in person. Very nice http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Art/Taylor:

Thanks -- very nice and I appreciate your time/effort. The Platinium Green is kinda of subtle -- sometimes platinium looking, sometimes blue-green looking and sometimes a gorgeous platinium green http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I've managed to find an S40 sedan in our colour -- but your pic is far better. When ours arrives I'll be sure to take a pic or two and post it in its best livery.

Barry,

If you happen to travel out east here around NYC, you will find plenty of Platinum Green XCs.  The color along with Ash Gold is very popular.  I seem most of them with the taupe interior tho.

Hey Barry,
I have a Platinum Green XC with graphite interior. Coastal was kind enough to post my car here already (it's the one with the Thule ski rack). It is very dirty and salty in the picture though. Actually it might give you a good perspective on how the color looks when the car is dirty. To tell you the truth, I think that the XC looks very good when it's dirty. Anyway, here is another pic taken on the same day, and give me a day or two and I will take some pictures of the interior and post them here. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My wife and I look forward to seeing your pics -- and we both thank you for going to the time/effort on our behalf.

The green has a hard time showing off, doesn't it. I suspect it requires some sun shine and looking at it at the right angle to see the metalic reflections. I suspect people will ask us "what colour is your car" http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Barry,
You are right about the color. It is more like gray when it is cloudy or at night. In fact it is gray most of the time. In bright sun the color turns to green. In fact, parking attendants and police (parking ticket) always think the car is gray. I like this feature of Platinum Green, which has to be one of my favorite colors offered for the XC.
BTW, the interior is great. It looks whole and complete, unlike other two-tone trims. I think you will be very satisfied with it.

Ok, Barry, I posted 6 pictures in the "GUEST UPLOAD HERE" area in the photos section. Here is a link if it will work:

http://xc70.com/pics/thumbnails.php?album=2

I took most pictures when it was dark outside, and I think one of them was taken in the afternoon. You will also see that the drivers seat needs cleaning, I didn't realize that untill I looked at the pictures myself. Anyway, hope the pictures help!

Thanks for those six pics. You say you have Graqphite interior! It looks very light to me and looks like its Light Taupe because the seating doesn't match the dash which is graphite. Am I wrong?

Here's what an ALL graphite interior looks like (courtesy of Volvo's XC70 glossy booklet I've on hand http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hi Barry.
You may download the Volvo XC70 Brochure (http://new.volvocars.com/pdf/2003_XC70_Brochure.pdf) (in PDF format) from the Volvo site . You will get some good pictures.
To compare, I went on the Volvo UK website (http://www.volvocars.co.uk). It's seems that "Graphite" turns to "Offblack" on European sites. Funny to see what an ocean can do to colors! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the PDF ref. I've d/l it and placed it into my /Users/<name>/Documents/Volvo/XC70 folder http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif for safe keeping and future reference.

Didn't have too much luck with the UK site -- maybe its the distance that slows things down. After about 30 secs into "Configure your own car" I received

Unfortunately, you have to restart the configuration. Thanks [/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>

That was a pretty quick 20 mins IMO. &nbsp; http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif &nbsp;I&#39;ll try again later.

Dropped by for a service appointment at the dealer today and noticed a platinum green XC70 sitting out front. The first one I&#39;ve seen and must admit was impressed. My wife, who is generally swayed by the lighter shades, marvelled at the warm subtle tone of green and commented that the potential exclusivity of this color would suit her just fine. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

We then hopped into our loaner for the day, which just happened to be a ruby red S60 AWD. I can see this color going over well due to it&#39;s striking boldness. Not my favourite but definitely in the top 5&#33; http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

FYI-

There is a lot of Plat-Green here in Northern CA. &nbsp; You see it &quot;everywhere&quot; &nbsp; The only thing there is more of is Silver and Ash. &nbsp;Yesterday I saw 3 on my way to and from the post office- a whopping 5.3 mile round trip. &nbsp; And no... they were not the same car. &nbsp; It is striking in a Volvo sort of way.

I was reading somewhere when the MY changed over to 2003 that Volvo were expecting the Platinum Green to become the new Ash Gold of the line, i.e. extremely popular. &nbsp;Sounds like it may be happening...

Found a Plat Green metallic at a local show room -- the green does show up a little better in the showroom. My wife and I are very pleased with our selection. It looks very very smart/classy/posh looking http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hey Barry,
I wouldn&#39;t worry at all. I&#39;ve seen some platinum green XC&#39;s here in VA and I think it&#39;s a great color choise. Especially with the (green) tinted rear windows&#33; &nbsp;http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Looks great Barry http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif .

I think you made the right choice. Shame that it doesn&#39;t stay that way all the time, all polished and shiny. But after all, isin&#39;t that a XC, ready to get dirty? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Well -- to complete this topic thread I have to report that my wife likes this Platinum Green sooooo much that she now has her eye on some Eileen Fisher clothing in a matching colour. I think this XC70 colour will be a BIG hit all round with Eileen Fisher picking on it as well -- it&#39;s nice to be fashionable with one&#39;s choice of car colour, right? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/happy.gif I hope my wife doesn&#39;t mind me getting into the car with my grubby clothes&#33; Mind you I do have a very old sweater that kinda looks Plat Green after all the times it&#39;s been thru the washing machine http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

Geeesh, now I realise why my wife chose the car&#39;s colour -- Duh, I have a mind like a Rapier, right?

Isn&#39;t that last season&#39;s Eileen Fisher color? &nbsp;Seriously....? &nbsp;Don&#39;t ask me how I know this, but Saks and Nordstom both had it... tell her to make sure its on sale. &nbsp; http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif
