Hi !

Newbie to this forum, first XC70 too.

It's a 2006 with a leaking Haldex AOD and consequently not kicking in smoottly on AWD.

The leak on the AOD differential seems to be the shaft seal and I need to remove the driving shaft to get to it.

Both ends of the driving shaft are now removed from the flanges, the center bearing is free from the floor of the car , and ... impossible to remove either end of the driving shaft !!!

I have the VIDA disc with the driving shaft removal instructions and can't see what still hold the driving shaft in place !

Car is on jack stands in the garage, I need Help !

Thanks for any input ,

Iggy

Just FYI, when the center bearing comes down, the prop shaft shortens in length so the CV ends should come out. But since you are in Canada... The flanged ends of the CV are likely rusted on. Here is a recent thread on this

If your CVs have opened up in this process, might have to reassemble them properly to seal the grease. Also a good opportunity to reassemble the front CV with new grease as it gets cooked by catalytic converter nearby and start failing at 100k miles or so. Here is a note on that

Thanks Howard,

Rust was effectively the problem ! They both came out with a little "help".

The good news is that both of them received a good clean out and new grease.

The Haldex is now sealed. A small run around the block show no leak. Tomorrow I'll put 100 kilometers and see.

Thanks again for the help its appreciated
