I replaced the battery today on my 02', as it has been sitting for about 18 months, and the old battery wouldn't hold a charge. I had a company truck, all expenses paid, so... She started right up on the old battery using a Schmacher 750 amp jump pack. Everything seemed fine after the install, but we went out to dinner, and upon return a few hours later, the alarm was wailing away. It turned off, but it would keep happening about every 15 minutes after that. It didn't matter whether I locked it with the remote, the key, or the button, it kept doing it. I finally disconnected the battery, and will deal with it over the next couple of days. Is it a matter of driving X number of miles so the computer can relearn and reset?

Ignition to position 2 when you connect the battery?

While trying to solve the problem, instead of disconnecting the battery,
it may be easier to remove the fuse of the siren module (11C/38).

I didn't know about that one! I will try it tomorrow. Thanks!

There is a procedure for (dis)connecting the battery, see attached pdf.
I admit that I haven't always followed it, but it is certainly the best and safest way :D

The battery was DEAD big time, so the disconnect was not an issue. Kind of like kicking a dead horse in the balls. Actually, this volvo is starting to make me feel like said horse.

Well, I tried the position 2 thing, and it worked fine, but the alarm went off again a couple hours later, so I pulled fuse #38 in the cabin, for the alarm siren. Thanks to both of you for the help and advice!
