Hello,

I know this is stupid but hey! i'm new to this forum! Just joined today. You guys seem like a bunch of nice people http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Some background information bout me:
Well, i'm 15, Male, from Singapore and cars are my life...
My dad owns a V70XC and a S60T5 and my mum drives a Fiat Coupe.

I'm trying to persuade my father to get the IPD chip + dual exhaust unit for the XC. He already has the IPD chip installed for the S60 but says its useless for the XC to get modded as it is after all a cross-country vehicle blah blah. I'm also trying my best to get my dad to go "off-road" with the XC. The only time the car has ever touched mud was when we were driving up a mountain and there was some mudslides.

Anyways, cya!

Hi kian and welcome to the forum! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

What year is your dad's XC70? The reason I'm asking is that I read recently that Scott Hart of iPd was saying that the exhaust system on the new generation (MY2001+) Cross Country was so good that it didn't make sense to install a sport exhaust with the ECU upgrade.

If your dad went that route, it could lower the cost quite a bit! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hello wiz,

Umm, if i'm not mistaken the XC was bought last year 02' but it was an 01' model. So i'm guessing the exhaust system is good enough? Well then, if thats so, might ask him to get the dual exhaust unit on the S60 http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Hehe...

Regards,
Kian

Kian: Would add to the cool factor http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif but also may not be necessary from a strictly performance aspect. I know that iPd sell exhausts for the S60 though...

OTOH, you may want to try to talk your dad into getting an S60R! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, would definatly make the S60 look way sportier from the back! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

I've tried to get him to consider the R but it's really over his budget - knowing current economical sitations etc.

It would cost ATLEAST S$300K or more which equates to around US$170K. Haha. Thats like US$120K more than if we got it in the US.

*Grumbles* Stupid taxes *Grumbles*

Hi, Kian

You`ve found a good website here with some very interesting contributors. Into music?? Check out the music recommendation thread in the Off Topic section. Low Tide is our man in the know - some very interesting artistes singled out for exploration!

At what age can you get behind one of the family fleet in Singapore??

Hope it`s not too far away.

Welcome to a great site. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

If i'm not mistaken, its a 97 model - 20V Turbo.
Fast car! 0-100 in like 6 seconds when driven by my dad, but takes 18 seconds when driven by my mum http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

It's a fuel guzzler though!

Haha!
I wouldn't really know - I've been all over the world following my parents - Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia.

But I think yeah, you're right. It consists of certain terms used at the end of sentances. For example, if I wanted to say... "Why are you doing this to me?", it would be "Why you like that treat me one?" in Singlish. It's quite horrible actually http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Not too proud of it. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
