Hmmm, let's make an estimated guess. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
A car is driving 205kph on 15 March 1992 at 14:36 http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Could that be a XC? Or do those red digits mean something different. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

I'm not a believer here.
BTW There are countries were you'd loose your drivers license and/or car for driving these speeds http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nervous.gif

Long story, I must use visual aids to explain.
The Taiwan Highway Patrol has come up with a new methods for setting up speed traps. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
They are using Mile Markers as a disguise for their radar/cameras.
As you can see from the photo below, the mile marker 46.7km has been converted. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
The decimal point was drilled out, and inserted the camera lense as the decimal point. You can see the radar equipments sitting on the stairs.

The result = the perfect undetectable speed trap & $200 gone from my pocket. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/unhappy.gif

Oh PICO, you are right about the numbers in Red, except the 92 is not 1992. Here's why, in 1911 the KMT overturned the Ching Dynasty and the New Republic of China year began. Hence, you must add 11 to our R.O.C. year. Therefore 92+11=03. The photo was taken this year, and it is not a fake.

And here's another overview photo showing the speed trap.

Wow, those guys are clever there! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

inft420 you must have been in a real hurry there http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Hope the experience was worth the $200 http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

Apologies for for asuming the R.O.C. was used all over the world http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

BTW how did the XC handle at that speed?

So who's the guy crouching down? I guess I would be crying too if I had to watch all this equipment all day.

This is a little off topic but in the 3rd picture, is that a cemetary in the background?

I'd like to know what the other fella is doing (the one barely visible behind bushes to the right of the crouching Tiger man) ? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

As far as what's on the hillside in the photo -- Hmmmm, I suspect that's where they send/put you if you exceed the $200 fine http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Someone jokingly told me sometime back that if you're caught speeding in Bolivia they drag you out of the car and shoot you on the spot and confiscate the car http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

At least you wouldn`t get any points on your licence http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Thanks for the info ifnt.. surprising it's "only" a $200 fine, I'd lose my license for who knows how long had I been driving that fast here in BC. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Was that an isolated speed incident or is that the normal freeway cruising speed in Taiwan?

Also, had you been caught by an officer would the penalties have been more substantial? We had photo radar here in BC for a couple years and if you were nailed it meant a $75 fine, but no points since they couldn't prove who the driver was in most instances. Wondering if that's the case in Taiwan as well.

We were pretty lucky... the RCMP ALWAYS used Chevy Astro mini vans and took a photo of the back of the car. Hence, they were very easy to spot and we could slow down before you came into the camera's viewfinder. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Guess I'll stop complaining about my town's 6 red light cameras.

http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/lookaround.gif The speed limit was 90km/h, it was pretty deserted that particular day so I just had to try out how the XC handled at that speed http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/unhappy.gif I won't be doing anything like that anytime soon now.

BTW, on the hills in the background, it is a public cemetary.
And the guy taking a nap is the Highway Patrol Officer in charge of monitoring the equipment,so it doesn't get vandalised by PO drivers.. As well he changes the films.. FYI, each roll has 200 films, and they go through about 4 rolls per day on weedends, that's about 1 ticket/minute if you count only the 12hr day time. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

Did you guys here about a large percentage of the Camera's being banned in No. California? It turns out that the police contract to outsource service on the Camera's included a provision that the service company would get 20% of each Camera's proceeds.... http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif

A county judge opened up an investigation when a lawyer (who was caught) came to his own defense with the story. The whole thing fell apart when a second judge ruled that tickets issued by those cameras had to be overturned post-facto. Now, there are "camera" boxes with no Camera inside.... hmm, now if we just knew which ones were still "real" and which ones aren't...

Had to ask this...how about a radar detector? Those things must be left on, so should be easy to read them. In Nevada if you are clocked at 100 mph or more...instant arrest, no fun man! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
