New fuel pump (Bosch) arriving tomorrow (been stuck at home since Thursday:mad:). Have 2 seals coming with. Only problem I see is taking off retaining ring to remove/install (no special tool on hand). Many have stated success with tapping consistantly around the ring in variable spots with hammer and blunt screwdriver to loosen ring (carefully). Confidence is high, am wondering if anyone has tackled this, and can think of any snags I might encounter. On a positive note, fuel gauge will probably be more accurate after this.(2001 V70XC 165K miles, a loved member of the family:p). Replacing drivers front halfshaft next week.

If you dont have a bung tool to remove that ring, at least get a brass drift to preclude steel on steel sparks near a gas tank opening. (Yes, I've done a Volvo in tank pump, you can use a drift)

Good advise, How tight was it? Wouldn't think to tight with a rubber gasket.

It was an 850. 10 years old at the time... If I recall, first 1/10 turn was super tight...then it just came right out...been a while though...may have even been the boost pump on my 240... I am getting old...

I absolutely loved/miss my old 855 Turbo...Solid/speedy wagon.

I hear you! I wish I had my 850R that I traded in on my XC back. Not as much room but alot less electronic than the XC.

Cheers,

Bill
