I was interested in what others had done w/ regard to dents you (or some) has put in your rig. You know you're out there.

So far we have had 2 cases where we visited the body shop. The first was wifes fault. Hit the the qtr panel on a well places pole in a parking garage. The second we don't know where it came from but it was right over the passenger rear window (in the door frame http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky2.gif ) We had it parked in a airport lot we have used a number of times w/o issue and we didn't notice it when we left but... anyway please comment.

We've actually been quite fortunate in the dent/door ding dept., with only one slightly noticeable depression on the lft. rear qtr. panel near the tail light and a 6" long abrasion on the lft. side bumper cladding...the latter caused by someone probably using our vehicle as a stopping point for their shopping cart. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Has anyone purchased or tried one of those 19.95 tv deals with the suction cups to remove small dents? Click & Clack mentioned it on CarTalk but didn't know if it actually worked. I have three small dings/dents on car from other peoples' doors.

I accidentally put a dent in a passenger door closing it with my knee when my hands were full. The dent popped out on its own but left a crease at the top of the door.

A local paintless dent wizard-type worked his magic and it has completely disappeared, can't even see it looking down the side of the door. The only trace left is a small hole at the door end by the lock but it's plugged with a rubber grommet that looks factory. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I have the same situation. The hole in the door end was for the dent guy to get tools in? How large? Appreciate your sharing how long the job took/cost. thanks

Actually the hole in the door should be the LAST resort. A REAR good shop should be ablt to get it from the top window opening. Granted it depends on where it's located.ALSO make sure you put touch up paint on the exposed metal, then put the grommet in so it does not rust.

The hole was about a half inch in size, cost $75 to repair and they kept the car for about 2 hours.

We have these dent wizard guys here in So. Cal. They charge about $50-80 a dent, but use mirrors and go in through the window seal and massage out the dent. It is pretty amazing and when it is done, it is completely gone, no holes. Some door areas are not accessable to his tools.

After keeping the my current SUV dent free for 5 years and spending $ 100 bucks with the dent wizard guy, I finally gave up. I will have to start fresh when I get my XC and train my wife to park in the fringes of the lots. Problem here in So. Cal nobody ever seems to stay at home, so thus they do a good job of filling the parking lots up.
