Is there an Auto Lock feature where as the doors lock automatically when the car reaches a certain speed? I cannot find this in the manual.

Thanks.

I asked a Volvo exec about this.
Answer was that safety minded Volvo for life decided locked doors are a safety hazard inasmuch as rescuers cannot get into car to save people trapped inside after crashes...
Makes sense, I guess.
Different strokes for different folks...

Huh?
If that were the case they would not be available

Yeah - that exec is a moron...well, actually, all I know is that the answer is moronic...

Locked doors are safer in a crash - helps to prevent the doors opening if the crash is severe. If a rescuer has to get you out of the car - the crash was severe, the car's been crushed, in part, and the locks are meaningless in that case because the doors won't open anyway...locked or unlocked...

Nearly all cars lock their doors automatically now, precisely because it is safer.

Actually, I think it is mandated by Mammy Government and her regs. At least for the last few years. It was included in a proposal to harmonize UN/ECE, EU, US, Canadian, Australian and Japanese vehicle safety regs (Regulation 11, 70/387/EEC, FMVSS206, CMVSS206, Design Rule 2/00, and Road Vehicle Article 25 respectively). Damn if I can find a date on it though.

Cheers,

Bill
