Hey all,
I am having a hard time fidning a definite answer as to when the timing belt should be replace on a 2006 XC70. Some say 105,000, but I have also read that the 2.5L AWD is at 120,000. Help.
Thanks,
Steve

Who cares what anybody on a forum says - you have an owner's manual...what does it say?

Now, why Volvo upped the change requirement is beyond me. Bottom line is this: if the belt breaks, the engine has to be replaced. If you're at 105,000 miles, I would replace the belt. I did both my cars at 90,000 miles (that used to be the spec).

Will you save $$ by going longer? Likely not, here's why: You're unlikely to drive this car to 240,000 miles (at which point, you would be up for a second belt change on the longer interval). So, you're likely only going to do 1 timing belt change in your ownership...why delay it and increase the chance for belt failure?

Make certain that you change the tensioner and idler pulley at the same time. They're just as old, and if they break, they take the belt with them.
