Hello all,

I have the opportunity to buy a coupe' 2002 C-70 , with 130,000 km on it.

Car is nice , except for some interior plastics that are broken.

There is an "R" on the back of the car , and as well , "R" on the engine.

Can it be an "R" version ?

Engine is 2.3L , and Turbo position is also not where my Turbo is in my XC70.

Appreciate all assistance needed.

There were no C70R produced ever.
As for the 2.3HPT engine, the turbo should be at the same place as your XC70, between the engine and the firewall.
Cheers!

Tnx for the answer.
Now it is even more weird .
Which model has the turbo on the drivers side?
And how can it be , that engine has the "R" cover on it?
Should I go a head and buy this car without worries ?

The compressor end of turbo ("snail" shaped housing made of aluminum) is almost even with back end of cylinder in the normal installation on the Volvo 5's.
The dress up pieces for Volvo R's can be found online at times and in scrap yards.
I imagine you daily are driving on roads next to BMW's with M badges that were not there when the car left the dealer when new. Also driving by cars with the small engnes but the badges have been taken off or changed to let you think it is the nicer model with the larger powerplant.

Post a photo of the engine bay pls.
Like cattlecar said above, the blue R engine covers are easy to find and retrofit. Its plug and play. Even easier if its just a R badge on the OEM black cover.

Plus there NEVER was an "R" on the engine, just blue covers

LOL!
Its just a normal C70 with some S60R cosmetics.
Does not make it an R.

So silly
THIS is a real R engine
Note no "R" on the engine cover and turbo on the driver's side (like all of them)
The only difference is the blue engine cover.

(I apologize for the two leaves inside the engine, very tacky, this pic was taken last autumn and I guess a couple of them flew down while I wasn't noticing!)

My 2000 R was like JRL's with no R I had forgotten about not having the R. My 2004 and 2006 R's had the extra dress up of the R on coil cover and the beadblasted oval metal turbo outlet pipe over engine in the metal brackets.

Great underhood photo. The RHD M Cylinder location is a stinker. I had not thought about wipers being reversed but it makes sense as the pass side gets an arc sweep with a large unswept area. I travel gravel roads. My engine compartment would be filthy before I had traveled 5Km.
