On my 2002 xc70 the cooling fan will not shut off. Can anyone please help me with the circuit and location of the relays and sensors?
Thanks

Do you mean the blower inside the car, or the actual cooling fan at the radiator? If it's the blower inside, then it's performing afterblow which takes place after the AC has been on in order to dry off the evaporator and other climate unit parts. It will shut itself down after ten minutes or so.

It is the cooling fan at the radiator

What do you mean by "not shut off"? Is it running constantly with the car running? Is it staying on when the car is turned off? Does this happen from start-up to shut-down?

I think that the fan relay is part of the fan in this car, so you're likely looking at a new fan to fix this..

It stays on when the car is turned off and will run until the battery is drained. When I charge the battery and reconnect the cables, the fan starts right up again with a cold engine.

Could be the fan speed regulator module (item 4/71), it is a transistor device that can fail in a short circuit,
thereby allowing full current to the fan. Power to the fan comes from a constant 12V supply (red line 30+)
line so that it can run after shutting down the car. This also means that if the regulator fails,
this can supply power to tha fan until the battery is dead.
Unfortunately, the regulator module is can't be replaced alone, it is part of the fan assembly.

Does anyone have any experience with the TYC aftermarket fans being offered on E-Bay?

Why don't you have this checked out first, could be just the coolant temp sensor

Thanks to all for the much needed help. I found a fan assembly at a local salvage yard for $100 which was less than the Volvo dealer wanted to look at it. I bought the unit, which was from a 2003 XC70, installed it, and now all is working again.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Joe
