I was changing oil in my car yesterday and this little guy fell out of the skid plate.

Any ideas?

Looks like a PCV part to me...from near the intake manifold maybe?

It's possible that it's left over from a PCV repair earlier...how does the car run?

I did have a PCV repair done about 10k mi ago, but the car is not running that well.

I have an idle surge/shutter every once in awhile and my mileage has dropped to around 20mpg when it was around 24mpg

The car appears to be an 06 XC70 looking at OP's other posts. Perhaps OP can confirm.

Here is iPD's PCV kit for 06, the 2 possible parts that may may match OP's part are

1. The rubber tube on the big L metal hose on the end that attaches to the turbo air intake (connects to the PTC nipple). But the hose on that end splits into a Y (not sure if it disassembled into different pieces)

2. The piece that connects to the oil trap.

Hard to get a close up view.

Its not too hard to see the PTC nipple connection. Here is the picture on the turbo air intake pipe. This is an older car but just trace the air take pipe from air cleaner to the turbo to find it.

The Oil trap connection is hidden under the intake manifold and probably can't see it without disassembly.

that's what I'm saying... the only parts that appear similar seem to be a "Y" connector instead of this single tube

Any chance it's an inlet connecting hose for coolant to the turbo?
