I was turning around when I heard a pop ( not electrical, more like plastic breaking ) and immediately the little air bag icon came on and the "srs-airbag service urgent" warning message came on. Also, the steering wheel radio control and cruise control buttons stopped working. The two things happened at the same time and I believe that they are related. I think possibly something came un-plugged in the steering wheel, but I am not sure. I wanted to get some opinions on what it might be and how to go about tearing the steering wheel apart before I go diving in and breaking things.
