01 V70 T5 with 120,000 miles

Yesterday I replace the driver side inner tie-rod, this morning I went to Sears to get the alignment done right.
Car was running fine, no strange noises, every OK
Came back from Sears, all still OK. Maybe 20 miles.

Later this afternoon I went out again for an errand and I noticed drive line noise coming from the left front (same side as where the tie-rod was replaced).

Pull over to see if something was up, nothing.

These are the symptons:
speed related noise, loud enough for people to hear it when they talk with me on the phone;
worst when wheels are straight and I just let go of the gas;
noise become considerably less when I apply the brakes or accelerate
rocking the vehicle left to right makes the sound become less
left or right turn makes the sound virtually disappear.

Nothing is loose.

I replaced this drive shaft in the last 20,000 miles when the passenger side was bad.

I am thinking it is not the bearing as it would become more noisy if I am making right turns.

Car was good for weeks on end.
Today within 30 miles I have severe drive line noise.

Has anyone seen such a sudden failure on a drive shaft?
