Just curious as to what everyone else is getting mpg wise? I am currently getting 17 city. Anyone else doing any better, worse?

We use our '98 as a daily driver: gym, grocery store, etc and average 20-21 mpg. On the rare occasion that we drive on the interstate we get about 26 mpg.
The odo has 259,000 miles!

JRL's numbers are what I have been getting for several years on my 98XC, since removing the rear driveshaft and going full time FWD, the highway MPG is consistently at least 25 -26 , frequently higher.

I drove V6 Taurus wagons before the XC, got very similar mileage on them from cars of similar size and weight.

220K Km (about 160K miles).

In US gallons we're getting about 21-22 in mixed suburban driving. When we go on a road trip, with a cargo box and a full car we get 25-26 highway (as by fillup method).

pretty much what JR says - maybe 15- 16 in town - high 20's on long rides - using Hi test

2000 V70XC gets 15.5 to around 16.2 in mostly city/suburban driving. Highway not much better, too expensive to drive this thing burning $4 gallon premium fuel for very long. No noticeable mileage benefit/penalty for using $0.25 gallon cheaper mid-grade, no noticeable performance difference either

24.9 mpg average as of today, but a lot of long, country road driving over the past few days in the '98. Usually the trip computer has it at about 19.something mpg. I use mid-grade fuel as the owner's manual does not warn against it as does the manual accompanying our '04 XC70 which, by the way, seems to get a lot better mileage.

Never seen over 16.2mpg, EVER! (2000 V70XC) Mostly, (probably 85%), city/suburb driving. Using full synthetic oil and max. tire pressures with spot on alignment, drive like an old guy 'cause I am one with no tickets since 1977!! Lots of snow lately, which will cut 10-15% or more, off mileage, but a thirsty, expensive ride, none the less. Especially with mid grade fuel above $4 gallon, which is what we have been using with no apparent problems. Mileage with Premium fuel exactly the same, no additional mpg.
$20 oil filters are a pain in the %&*!!! Yup, $20 at local Advance Auto parts!

Had been getting 17 in town, 24 on the road, ('99 XC, 160K, driveshaft out, conservative throttle user) Then, replaced the PCV system, cleaned the MAF and Throttle body and all the other recommended things, runs great, but now I get 14 in the city, 20 if I'm luck on the road. Go figure

98' xc - 169k miles
9-city
26-highway

But I also live in hilly San Francisco, have a big ole Thule Storage trunk on the roof, only use 91 octane, and tend to drive like a bat outta' hell.

Burns a little oil, now run BP Silver, can't notice any diff from Premium.

I get in my 2000 V70 XC about 18 mpg around city/country and 23 mpg on hwy at 75+ mph using premium fuel and A/C on. It only has 87K miles on it.
