I have a 2001 xc70 with 137,000 miles. All fluids are freshly changed in angle, transmission and rear diff.
when I get up to around 50 mph the car is fine just cruising with light throttle but if I get on the gas to speed up it makes a low grumbly sound now.
This seems to happen more going up a incline and I assume is straining the drivetrain.

I can't decide if its in the transmission or maybe something with the angle gear or drive shaft.

Could someone give some info on what a failing driveshaft bearing does?
(Sounds/Vibrations)

This is a hard one to track down, it will keep on doing it till I let off the gas.

It's like when getting on the highway I have to accelerate hard and I get the noise and then when I get up to speed I back off the throttle and it smooths out with lessening noise or none at all. Step on the gas to pass and it does it again.

Slipping clutches in transmission is another idea, maybe they are getting worn and cant hold up to engine torque and load on them.
