Volvo just announced a recall of 211,884 vehicles for airbag problems.

It concerns the following types (S60, V60, XC60, S80, V70 en XC70).

Apparently one airbag connection is under the driver's seat and can be compromised leading to the airbags being rendered inoperable.

I am translating freely from a newspaper in Dutch, and I don't have the affected mode years or more details.

Will advise when I know more, but I would expect this to be primarily for the Y2 generation vehicles.

2012 vehicles are affected, seems it's 17K vehicles in the US.

Here is a UK version of the recall notice. It includes VIN numbers of the affected vehicles.

Just checked my VIN off the registration document and got a 'hit' so have sent a message to dealer asking for confirmation, then get booked in if affected. [thumbup]

Thanks 'acools' for posting this, I think it will take Volvo UK some time to get the 'snail mail' letters out to owners. [thumbup]

Reply received from dealer that 'Flamenco Red' is not affected with this recall, so we can carry on as usual.

It did make me wonder though about the 'reliability' of the information given out on the recall website, that can prove a bit scary if it isn't correct, and in this case it wasn't.
