Hello All,

I have been reading this forum for awhile, now I have a question.  I have a 2003 XC70 that will unexpectedly generate an increase in RPM's at about 20 mph.  this typically happens after I have been doing highway driving for about 20 or more miles.  If I slow down to exit or stop and then start again, the car when it reaches about 20 mph with suddendly rev up to about 3400 rpms then go back down to regular levels.  only happens after highway/high speed driving.   dealer says there are no software upgrades.  any thoughts??

First, welcome to the forum yooper1! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This sounds like it may be a malfunction in the adaptive transmission, very similar to what member Steve had a few months ago. Read the thread below, Steve's fix is in the last post. Hope this helps! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

as a follow up to my original post.  I have taken the car in for 7500 mile service, mentioned problem again.  recreated problem for service tech, no solution - no outstanding software updates or service bulletins.   Volvo technician (not dealer tech) spent a day with the car, could not duplicate (surprise!&#33http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif also on the phone with volvo engineers.  now,  they have hooked up a flight recorder to my car to try and catch some info when it happens.
