XC70 vs bomb

At the time the TV news here reported the vehicle was a Volvo "SUV", so I assumed it was an XC90. Did not know it was actually an XC70 until now. Yet another case of the local news crew being a bit off with their facts. Of course they are up against a deadline.

Looks like it was more of an incendiary device than a high explosive one, or the intended victims and the XC likely would not have come out of it as well as they did.

Says at one point the bomb was planted inside the car. Everyone was injured pretty badly :-( They were very lucky, but I doubt the fact that is was a Volvo had any bearing on the fact that they survived.

The alloy in the wheels actually seems pretty tough- they are in much better condition than the body.

I agree that this was more incendiary in nature from the looks of it. If you look at what vehicles in Afganastan and Iraq look like after being hit or running over something- there's nothing left but axles.

I think I'd send an XC to the place in North Carolina that does all the discreet armoring if I had the cash and I was him.
