I have a 2000 XC70 with 175k miles. I just completed a motor swap as the previous one locked up on the previous owner. I bought it after it had sat for about 1 1/2 yrs. It has many problems that need fixing but the most serious seems to be the fact that I only have 1st gear and reverse. ( I am assuming the tranny was fine when the motor locked up). I have no blinking arrow, winter mode does not make any difference. I did get it to upshift 1 time when I was coasting down a big hill and I got up to 40 mph and it upshifted. When I stopped and took off again it would not upshift again. I took the PNP switch apart and cleaned it already, made no difference. Is it possible that the speed sensor on the tranny is bad ? The speedo is working fine. Any suggestions ?
