Hi

Im seeking a smart charger that's capable of handling anything from small motorcycle batteries up to what we have in the XC and in my other vehicles.

Any good experiences here?

Cheers

I've used one of these (http://www.blackanddecker.com/power-tools/VEC1086BBD.aspx) for several years now. It auto adjusts the voltage to what it thinks is appropriate, max I've seen it give is 16V, trickle charge is 13.5V which is what it should be. Given that charging a battery isn't rocket science and even the cheapest battery charger has electronic control these days I don't think you can go far wrong.

The local battery warehouse our shop uses recommends a brand called the Battery Minder. Unlike alot of these "trickle chargers", It too will trickle charge your battery. It is also one of the only chargers that will de-sulfate your battery plates, which is one of the biggest killers of stored batteries. Once it charges the battery to full, It has a maintenance mode on it that pretty much takes care of itself. The other reason I bought one is because you can link up to 4 batteries together, And it will maintain them all. For the price you can't beat what it does, especially for stored batteries. I have both my marine batteries, mower, and quad all hooked together for the winter, and it works great. Heres the link.http://www.batterymart.com/p-batteryminder-plus-12v-1_3a-battery-charger.html

If you store for more than a week or two, probably worth it. I use one for the Packard (6 volt...).
