Hello All,

My sister in law has a 2001 2.4T geartronic XC70 that was imported from the US to Europe.

Yesterday she went to Germany to visit her mother that is in a hospital over there and the car broke down.

They managed to drive the car to a nearby Volvo dealer and they diagnosed that the 3rd cylinder wasn't firing. They pulled the coilpack and noticed the rubber tail had split. They than removed the sparkplug and noticed it was broken in two parts!

They replaced the parts and set to inspect the car further. They noticed the wiringloom had some wiress that hardened and the insulation had split. on some parts the bare wire is visible! I am yet to inspect the damage but I think it would be best to replace the entire loom all at once.

Anyone got a car they are taking apart?

The covers always split, just re-tape it over

In this case you can actually see the bare copper wire. Depending on how bad it is I might try and get the pins out of the plugs and work some heatshrink around the wire, but best would be to replace the harness.
