Hi all, I have an 03 XC70, so far have had numerous problems maybe will list another time. Right now I am having trouble locating this noise. Everytime I shut the car off a little motor cycles on and off runs for about 2 seconds and off for 2 seconds this goes on for about 3 minutes. While getting some other things done at a volvo specialist they said it was no big deal that it was just an eco filter? But I can find nothing on an eco filter? anyone know anything about these or had this problem?

I know there are electromechanical actuators that governs the opening for most if not all vents in the dash. Mine makes some slight sounds when the car reaches a certain speed + CCM setting on venting with fresh air. I wonder if this is the source of your noise?

VIDA/DiCE does have a recalibration procedure for these actuators. I've not tried them yet since the noise is slight and negligible for me.

Is it coming from the engine? What happens if you let the engine idle for few minutes?

My recommendation - follow Howard's notes on disconnecting the battery...when it is reconnected, the CCM and other modules are rebooted...it'll take you 10 minutes, including waiting 5 minutes as required...and is worth a shot...

Actually, one of the recommendations I've seen from Volvo techs to revive a dead CCM is to touch the pos+neg for 30s (obviously remove from battery first). This supposedly discharges remaining charges in the electrical system. Might add this step if OP want to give power cycling a go.

Before power cycling the car. Make sure to read up on how to do this. I read about dead CCMs too often from this simple procedure. Here is the link on doing it correctly

Probably want to make sure it is your vent control actuators though. When you have the car powered up, just press the vent controls on the CCM to familiarize yourself with they sound like
