My wife hit a deer with our 98 v70 xc and crushed the nose. The car seemed to run fine so I drove it home; when I was putting it in the garage it started acting funny, would idle rough, lights would dim and finally died and would not start. I found a parts car and replaced the radiator, along with some body parts. Now I have the car back together, but it's doing some funny things. First it would shut off and the fan would keep running until I had to disconnect the battery; now it shows similar symptoms as before: idles rough, lights fade, dies when you put it in gear. Any ideas?

Been reading the threads and it seems this might be the problem. Feedback?

You did this yourself?
Are you an experienced body shop person?

Lights fade? Headlights?
What's your system voltage?

JRL,

No, I am not an experienced body shop person; all I really had to replace was the fender, the lights, the hood, the radiator and condenser, and the front shroud (not sure the name) that holds it all together. Took me about 8 hours all told.

It may be as simple as a pinched fan wire just or a bad part (fan or sensor)
It WILL have stored codes that you can get pulled at a Volvo dealer
