Hello friends,
Oil change in my XC 2002 (230k km ) trany to Toyota type -IV did grate and gear shifts much better (need B4 and the adaption process still). Delay is almost gone still problem with 2-3 shift but better now.

I tried to locate the B4 servo in my car but could not find it.
Is this fix applies only to Tiptronic ?

Tnx,
Eitan

The picture in the following link is looking from the bottom of the car up towards the transmission. The right upper object in the picture with the cross on it is the B4 servo cover. The black object is the driver side drive shaft attached to the transmission. The 4 out of 5 lines on the upper left of the picture are the brake fluid lines.

Just turn your steering wheel all the way right and you can look at this area from behind the driver side front tire. You can see all these parts including the B4 servo cover. Probably can't service it without jacking it up.

Only certain VIN numbers are affected by the faulty B4 design. Call a dealer and check. B4 servo cover is part of the AW55-50 transmission which is your 5 speed tiptronic automatic.

Here is a link on VIN range and Transmission serial number range that are affected and more pictures looking in from behind the driver front wheel. I believe VIN is only approximation and transmission SN points to the faulty design. Volvo's database can probably look up the transmission SN from your VIN. You can see transmission SN from under the hood... about 5 inches towards the back (and a couple of inches to the right) of the car from the ATF dip stick hole.

Also check the lower transmission torque mount's small bushing before you do adaptation.
