Hi, I am thinking of buying a 2007 XC90. It is a facelift version with the aux audio in. When I researched the VIN I note it has the 2.5T engine. (not T6 like the title says)

I cannot find any info about this combination. Is it true they still put the 2.5 in an 07? Is this a FWD rather than a 4WD?

Can anybody tell me if it still has the ill fated GM tranny? What should be in it?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,
Pls. note,
1- XC90 2.5T ceased production in 2006. Replaced with 3.2 6 cylinder engine in 2007
2- XC90 T6 ceased production in 2004. Replaced with 4.4 V8 yamaha engine in 2005.
Therefore there is no 2007 XC90 2.5T nor a T6.
Forget about that car, and buy an 2008 3.2 AWD, your best bet.
Good Luck

Hi, well the VIN suggests otherwise. I was very sceptical about this too. The VIN checks it out as an 07 with a 2.5 engine Auto AWD.

You are probably right for the american market. I should have explained I am in Dubai. So my question should have been asked in the vein of did that combo exist for 07 XC90s in other markets around the world.

Smacks of Volvo using the last of the parts bin for smaller markets.

The problem may have gone away though as he accepted my offer then called an hour later to say he has accepted a higher offer.

Would still apreciate thoughts on the basic questions if anybody else hase views.

Thanks, Simon

What I've mentioned before applies to all XC90 SUVs production world wide. I am in Beirut and not the U.S. Again if you are skeptical about it why to pursue it?

XC90 T6 was made into 2006 model year for USA anyway. V8 was a late intro in 2005 model year. For USA 3.2 I6 did replace the 2.5T I5 in 2007 but for some markets the 2.5T engine carried on as late as 2012 according to vehicle profile data in VIDA.
No reason to be concerned about a 2.5T being something screwy unless you are in US/Canada

I was skeptical as I did not know the facts and was unsure until I did some research. Cant argue with the VIN and the more recent post suggests that the 2.5T was offered in other parts ofthe world in 07.

the 2.5T is a tried and true combo in the XC90.
I'd say go for it if you can find another one.
And yes, they are still sold here in Asia even now. [thumbup]
