Nice! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif Don't like the roof color, and the chrome around the windows is un-Volvo like, but the concept looks good! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm I seeing this correctly -- TWO glass sun/moon roofs http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Very cool http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif I wonder if BOTH open up http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif It also has a built-in rear spoiler.

I think that is two moon roofs. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I've decided I don't care for the reducing side glass area going from front to back. The upper glass edge doesn't follow the roof line and I find this visually disturbing. I don't mind it tapering off a bit but not as much as shown in the pic.

All I can say is Woof......I'm glad it's only a concept. That means Volvo will really tone it down.

Can we expect a better XC30? Perhaps Volvo next time will come up with a Mini XC10 against mini cooper http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

Looks like a Tonka truck... or a land rover freelander knock off... I do HOPE that they tone it down... please! At least it is better looking than the Honda Element!

It may be marketed as the Taurus here but the "world chassis" that for and others use is much better than any of the past crap they have built for the U.S. Look at the European Mondeo, used to be the contour here, it is the small jag now. Great chassis, great driving car, just overpriced. The S type jag, lincoln LS, T-bird, and some upcomming stuff all use the same chassis too. Long before that the Saab 9000, lancia, and Alfa all shared the same chassis dating back to the mid 80's. The most powerful version of the lancia had a ferrari V-8 in it. It's all in the chassis tuning and the build quality of the rest of the car.

2.5 turbo, according to an article in a UK motoring magazine.

I`m presuming the Taurus is a smaller Ford? That so, the European Ford you refer to is the Focus; an excellent vehicle. In Europe, if you just want the best small hatch money can buy and do not have any badge hang-ups, you shell out for a Focus. Simple as that.

Well the XC90 looked a bit like that when it was a concept so the C50 should look beter when it is released.

So the XC50 will use the same 2.5T engine as the XC70 and XC90? it should be pretty quick then since it will have a lot less wqeight than the other two.

Kinda what I was thinking.

Actually I mentioned the Taurus here as it will share the next platform with the xc70 undoubtably. The replacement for the V40 wagon is going to share the next generation focus chassis as was discussed here earlier. Right now couldn't name the comparable car to the taurus in the european lineup, but it would be considered a rather large car by standards over there. I would think the XC70 is considered by quite a few to be pretty big as well.

Looking at the pictures the C50 concept is decked out in the same colour and styling as the XC90 concept and the production XC90 is a lot better looking.

As for performance with 210BHP I'd say low to mid 6's for 0-100kph and top speed of near 150MPH. Thay should be good competition for the BMW X3.

Oh BTW the Lancia that had the detuned Ferarri engine was the Thema 8.32 and it was detuned to 215BHP and was the most powerful front wheel drive car of it's day. It used the engine from the Ferarri 308.

Just read in the latest Automobile mag that the new Ford Freestyle and Ford Five Hundred/Mercury Montego will all be be built off a derivative of the S60/V70/S80 platform.

They also have a little blurb on the XC50 as well saying that the platform is shared with the next generation Ford Focus and Mazda 3...

I think that picture is actually a mistake as it looks to me VERY much like a recycled ACC (XC 90 prototype) pic. The pic of the V50 that I saw looked totally different and MUCH better. It actually was a very nice looking car. I think someone did a little Adobe Photoshop work on the ACC pic myself.
