After totaling my 2004 S60 about 6 weeks ago, I now find myself the owner of a "new to me" Barents Blue 2004 XC70.

I'd been searching unsuccessfully for another S60 when I found this at a local independent place who has been servicing both my S60 and Honda Accord for about the past 4 years. I contacted them about looking for an S60 but instead found the XC on their web site. They had just picked it up at auction as a one owner car with 96K, clean Carfax report and serviced at a Volvo dealership. Options include leather, moon-roof, premium sound (HU-803), and HID lights.

I've been digesting everything in the forum since picking it up a month back. I've been very happy with it so far (no issues that I'm aware of) though it will need a timing belt shortly. I have read through the forum FAQ and wondered if in addition to that if there was anything else I should be looking at proactively repairing or replacing.

And yes, I just received my VolvoXC.com sticker from Art and it will be installed shortly. ;-)

Out with the old...

And in with the new.

Very attractive
If you don't have full service records do a proper 90K service now, while at the same time think about installing a new timing belt and not waiting until 105K.
Then you should be done with any major maintenance for awhile.
(You also have optional Xenia wheels and the convenience package)

Have the AWD checked out, make sure the angle gear is not leaking
If it's not you may also want to change the fluid in there along with a brake fluid flush and coolant change.

I always suggest at these miles get all the big stuff out of the way, then you have some time to enjoy it[thumbup]

Thanks for your response. I already have "contact the dealer who serviced it" on my to do list, but I'll bump up the priority and get it done this week. The S60 was purchased and serviced locally and the dealership didn't have any issue with giving me copies of the service history. Hopefully the dealership who did the XC will be the same. I'd go there in person but it's a few hours away.

I trust the place I bought it from (well-regarded local independent Volvo specialist) well enough to have checked the other items, but maybe I'll take it in to the dealer just to have another set of eyes look it over. A little money spent now could definitely save a bunch later.
