Hi everyone,
I am in the process of buying an '07 XC70 with 130km (80miles or so) and wanted some advice.
Should I buy an extended warranty to cover powertrain (3yrs for $1200) or powertrain and electrical (3yrs for $2100).

Let's assume for the purpose of this post that the warranty company will actually pay out what they promise.

I spoke to original owner (who returned after 4yr lease so had no skin in the game) and he said all scheduled maintenance was completed and it was never in the shop for any repairs (none needed). The car was new in Aug 2007.

I am having a Volvo specialist check it out first.

Separate discussion - any experience with Lubrico warranty? Goes against my third paragraph request I know.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Highcroft,

I also purchased an off-lease 2007 (built in Aug 2007) last December. Mine was a CPO from Volvo. Since then I've had to replace the following either under factory warranty or CPO:

-All 4 TPM sensors
-Inner tie rod
-CV Boot
-Alternator
-Trans torque mount
- Both front control arm bushings
- Starter

If I were you, I'd go for some sort of warranty.

Thanks for the tips Lew. I am leaning towards it. I called the warranty company and was happy to find that one of their approved mechanics is one that I was thinking of taking the car to anyway.

Here's hoping they actually honour the repairs!
