Some a-hole decided it was OK to plow into my fender in a parking lot and not leave a note [cussing][cussing]
As decent luck would have it, (if you call coming out from eating lunch and finding your near perfect car dented), I found a black fender supposedly in perfect condition for $120 shipped.
(Erie Vovo, and they will take it back if not as described).

That would piss me off... but they'll get what's coming to them!

Damn JRL, that is a bummer! Sounds like you got a great deal on the bumper though! Any pictures of the damage?

Car is filty from 2 days of rain
I will take one after I wash it today or tomorrow.
It's not that terrible, and if the wheel well lip hadn't been hit I probably could have PDR'ed it out, but you can't PDR a wheel well lip,
(double walled metal) plus the compound curve at that area would make it very hard to make perfect even if it were single walled!

It's actually worse than originally thought now that I washed it.
It could not be dent doctered even if the wheel well lip hadn't been touched!
It's a complex dent

It's hard to tell on black
besides the marks I "drew" it has a crease all the way to the top of the fender

Sorry to see the damage on your beautiful XC. Two of my wagons have bad bumper scrape marks from careless drivers who can't even avoid parked vehicles! I believe Karma is cumulative...it'll catch up to them. [happy]

So after Erie sending me THREE black fenders that were supposedly perfect and a bolt on and me sending THREE fenders back to Erie, I gave up.
#@&($^^&%$&*(#$ .... (once again)
So I asked them to just send me the straightest fender they had and I wound up with a near perfect silver fender...regardless... I had to paint it!

At the same time we also repaired the one odd dent it had that couldn't be PDR'ed out which required a new door molding.
Naturally that wouldn't match (the rest are faded) so for now we painted all the faded side moldings, the faded mudflaps and the rockers to match in bumper paint (the correct color).

I plan to wait until the Spring to finish it up and do something with the very faded bumpers.
Not sure, maybe a new nice and smooth rear AWD bumper and sand and smooth then paint the entire front bumper black, just not sure yet.

Hopefully, I'll be able to pick it up tomorrow and I'll post pics in a couple of days after I detail it... again

What was wrong with all the Erie fenders?

All had dents, BIG dents and creases
To get a crease right on a black car is quite hard

Turned out pretty well.
Now I have all winter to think about what to do with the bumpers...
Used bumper spray paint on all 6 side moldings and the rocker panels (and the front mudflap)
Hard to tell in this picture but you can see how much lighter the front and rear bumpers are and this is when they're WET and darker. When the sun is out, they're light grey and blotchy!

Better comparison
(Old) bumpers and (newly painted) side moldings as they are now.
