Hey all,
My wife's 01 XC is pulling a p0442 and I've read a few posts suggesting cleaning the MAF as possible solution.

I've been able to find the MAF without any issue, but....

I'm not quite sure what is entailed in cleaning the MAF. Any guidance?

Thanks, as always,
LT

Here is some advice

I've done similar to my 1st gen v70xc. Works great. Just let it all evaporate off (an hour or overnight) before starting your car.

I remember reading that it is best not to remove the sensor from the housing (could prove difficult anyway due to the
5-point security torx screws) since there is (supposed to be) some kind of sealing. Not sure, but worth checking ouit.

Actually, getting a security torx bit and removing the MAF from the housing is easier than the whole housing. Just 2 screws and pull the MAF straight out. Then you have nice clear access to spray the MAF cleaner.

You do need to security torx bit. I think I got mine from Harbor Freight for like $7 for a bunch of unusual bits.
