It seems to be missing in all other 5cyl lpt or hpt applications.
granted, on manual cars (not sure about automatic ones) there's a round rubber piece that does not allow transmission to touch the crossmember.

I'm experiencing some slight from 50 to 100 rpm drop when slowing down at the stop sign in gear (not in neutral) and also some rambling (louder than normal noise) when accelerating from stop.

I checked that mount in the driver's side wheel well and it does not seem to be bad. I will take it out and see how it fared later.
Other mounts are good including the top and lower torque ones , firewall mount, pass side engine mount, two hydraulic mounts.

So my question is why do these cars need the mount?

someone on volvospeed mentioned and then i looked it up in vida that on 98-00 awd cars there's only one hydraulic engine mount in the front of the car, hence the need for the driver's side engine pad.
