2001, XCV70, 156K. Aside from the dealer, does anyone have a good source for an inner cooler? Dealer wants $459. thanks.

Eire Vo-Vo for used which should be sufficient as intercooler "wear" is fairly benign usually.

Cheers,

Bill, thanks for the heads up. I wonder if flushing it would get the oil out? Or am I chancing it with all the time involved? Basically the turbo boost sensor is getting full of oil that is being blown threw the intercooler. Apparently the previous owner didn't change the oil enough and blew the turbo. Which they replaced, but didn't replace the intercooler. So the result is this surging/inconsistant turbo boost. The turbo control valve is new as well. Thanks.

Wash it out with kerosene.

Thanks Sjonnie. Seems worth a shot. One more question. Does anyone have a link to some good instructions? Maybe a rough time estimate? I'm guessing three plus hours and that's only pulling the radiator and intercooler. Thanks everyone.

Turbo blew on my old 240, filling the intercooler with oil and metal shavings.

Washed it out (literally) with solvent first, as SJonnie suggests (Kero is cheap and effective) then with a dilute solution of simple green degreaser and lots and lots of water. Blew dry with compressed air.

Since it's full of oil, I would check your flame trap/PCV system, to make sure that you stop the flow of new oil into it...

Buy the aftermarket option from IPD I just saw posted in the R section of swedespeed! :)

Thanks for the insight Astro14. It looks like a real bugger to replace the flame trap system. Do you have to pull that all apart just to check it? Or is there an easier way? Thanks.
