Hi everyone, fabs here, just came across an ad for a set of winter tires on rims from an S60 (16")...the tire size is205/55/16.....i know the stock xc70 tires are:
215/65/16....will these tires work out???? will they be too short and narrow? thanks

too short - you lose about 2" of tire diameter - so, your speedo will be way off (around 5MPH on the highway) and an inch of ground clearance - which is why you bought the car in the first place...I wouldn't put them on my XC...
You can do the math yourself, if you want to know precisely:
first # = section width in MM, next # = aspect ratio, next# = rim diameter in inches.
So, taking section width x aspect for the 215/65 = 215 x .65 = sidewall height of 140mm, or about 5.25"...so, the tire is 16 (rim) + 2 (5.25) = 26.5"
For the other, 205/55 = 4.25, so the tire is 24.5" diameter...
