What would cause a hard left turn to make a noise. I think it is coming from the power steering pump but it does not happen when turning right or if it is a normal turn.
Kinda of got me stumped.

The ECM also seems to work fine now that the weather has cooled off.

Might be time to sell the car eh?

Define noise...squeak? Squeal? Crunching?

A noise with a hard turn in one direction, but not the other, makes me think wheel bearing...but without knowing the kind of noise...it's hard to say...

Your cv joint knuckel will make that kind of grinding or popping noise when turned in extreme steering from one side to the other.

We had a dry whinging noise when turning hard right. New ball joint and tightening of backing plate (on rotor, I'm guessing) sorted that out.

Does it happen on the flat or on hills or both? I had a strange noise that was only heard while turning left on downhill, then developed into all left turns. Turned out to be low (a little low not a lot) steering fluid :)

I recently developed the same noise - 2007 XC. I would describe it as a groaning noise and only happens when making a more than 180 degree turn to the left at speed - like going through a round-about. It doesn't do it going slow. I thought it might be related to the wider summer tires I recently installed while having new winter tires mounted. I never noticed the groaning noise with the other tires.
I'll check the power steering pump reservoir level and backing plate as suggested when the wife comes home today.

I added a few ounces of fluid to the power steering pump and the noise is gone.

Think your right...
I have ordered some power steering fluid...
