Malfunctioning Seat Memory

My MY07 I just picked up has a malfunctioning driver seat memory.
Position 3 still maintains the memory positions of the previous owner, however I am unable to reset #3 or set #1 or #2 at all. I'm trying the standard memory setting procedure of holding down the MEM button while pressing the desired number. I've tried pressing the desired number for several seconds and also tried a short depression.

I have a MY01 so I'm familiar with this simple memory setting.

Any clues what could be causing this? All other power set function works perfectly.

I know this thread is old, but did you find a fix for your problem? I'm having this same issue on my 2004 XC90, and now on my 2010 XC60. The XC60, at least, is still under warranty. :-)
