View Full Version : Vadis adjustable options

In the interest of avoiding a time-consuming and gruelling search, can we compile a list of Vadis-adjustable options that everyone has found useful to adjust, not merely things that can be adjusted?

I can recall:
1. The temperature of the seats.
2. The intensity of the auto-dimming mirror.
3. Auto-locking doors when selecting drive and moving forward??

(Suggestions from Forum Members):
4. Auto-rear wiper feature
5. Duration of interior lights-on after doors closed (thanks Barry)
6. Doors unlock with sigle button push.

Has anyone had these adjustments done at the factory when picking up their car? I understand they will adjust the desired settings for free, but it costs around $75 to have them adjusted at the dealership. Am I on target in my knowledge??

My wife is thin and gets cold easily, so we're going to have the seat warmers maximized as soon as we take delivery of the car (trying to get Hans to adjust them before we even get the car), but we feel it wise to make any other further adjustments we might want at the same time as we are NOT dropping the car off at the factory for the return trip, but in Frankfurt, Germany instead.

So we can't use our trip to decide what to have adjusted when we drop it off, and have to try and guess based on other people's impressions. For example, most seem to feel that the autodimming mirror is set about right, we plan to leave that alone. There might be other things we would benefit from adjusting that we are (as of yet) unaware of, hence my request for more input from those critical drivers such as Taylor, Barry, and a plethora of others who know a great deal about their cars and what can be adjusted and what should be adjusted on them.

Thanks so much in advance. We have just over 2 weeks left before we leave for Sweden. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif We want to do our best to get it right the first time.

Most respectfully,

Tom & Jenny

I had the auto feature on the rear wiper turned off. The default setting is for it to swipe once when: (i) the front wipers are on, and (ii) reverse gear is engaged. Since I use a bike carrier that I sling on the rear of my wagon, I was concerned that I'd inadvertently break the rear wiper some day. Obviously I still have the ability to turn the rear wiper on as needed, manually.

I'd asked for this to be done at the factory, but this was not communicated to them (the dealer thought it was not doable), so once I determined it was a Vadis-adjustable feature, the dealership did it, gratis, when I took the car in for a service.

My dealer charges $100 US for a adjustment http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Never told me about the options when I purchased the car.

I really do recommend max auto dimming for the driver's interior rear view mirror. Even at max there's still enough to see what's behind you http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Auto door locking after car has reached some forward speed isn't available as far as I know. Of course the gas filler door will auto lock at 5 mph.

If you've ever lost your car's remote you probably already know how expensive it is to replace and have key lazer cut and remote's software programmed for the VIN. For Volvo's remote replacement bet on at least $150. Suggest if this is of any concern to you that you pickup a spare/extra remote and key at FDC. It will cost $60 approx and they will program it for you for FREE and cut key.

Have the fog light protectors installed at FDC for $12 -- a great deal.

If you're concerned about lower engine damage as you negotiate rough rutted roads etc then replace the plastic engine protection plate with the 4mm thick aluminium one that's avail at FDC.

Interior lights can be VADIS adjusted to stay on longer after engine switched off and doors closed. A max of around 220 secs I believe.

If you reserve an early appointment at FDC to pickup your car and you're willing to wait the FDC can install most things within a few hours. FDC is very very very customer-in and they will make every effort to make your car delivery experience meet with your expectations.

If you want car's title in more than just your name then check the paper work with Hans or whomever delivers your car -- they can make mistakes in spelling etc. They left my wife's name off the paper work and Hans fixed it all up in a jiffy for me.

Barry,
Remember you asking about this feature in this post (http://xc70.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=1885;hl=vadis) and member ifnt420 produced a page from the Volvo Accessories Catalogue stating that it is available. Any follow-up on that on your part?

My dealer set the rearview mirror and door opening to one-click for free during the 7500-mile maintenance. Maybe they would have charged for the changes if that was all I brought it in for.

Oh wait, yours is a XC90.

Thanks for the heads up, I should try that on my next big service at the dealer, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll do the upload for free too. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
