Speaking of the 2002 vintage (2003's and up had different motor/AWD?), what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting if driving with a light foot, and WHO among you have been mostly trouble-free AFTER 100k miles?

At 119K miles, only basic maintanance and the rear drivers door lock module done (after purchase under CPO)....Hope this post doesnt jinx it! Average MPG (by DIM) is 20.2, but I am not the most light footed.

Thanks! No tranny trouble?

Anyone else? I'm thinking of buying a 2002 with 117k, but it is using coolant, and I'm having a dealer check that out first...

If it's using coolant and you don't see any leak, it's possible there is a leak in the transmission which mean one thing : run away !

Well, that's why I'm having the dealer do a pressure test.

I have a 2001 with 79K miles and an occasional hard shift 1-2, 2-3. I was averaging 23-24 MPG mostly city according to DIM. I give it about 30% off lights as 30% or more power is more agreeable to the transmission(it hates grandma driving). Highways I average 25-26 MPG at 80 mph.

I have some new Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S' (225/70-R16). I love them, the ground clearance is awesome however I have noticed my MPG go down by about 2 in the city and hwy. The actual loss is probably about 1 MPG, the other being due to the difference in diameter affecting the DIM measurement.
