Greetings fellow members! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

After seeing pics of some of the Japanese GTG's, I would be interested in knowing if anyone out there has ever thought of getting a group of XCers together for a meet? I realize logistically that it would be impossible for our own membership as a whole to undertake such a task, but I was thinking perhaps on a smaller scale, like in your own community. Has anyone noticed recently how many XC's are parked in their neighborhood or how many of you (present company included) have exchanged casual glances/nods/smiles from other XC owners? Any thoughts or suggestions on this? Would love your feedback. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Some weeks ago Armin and I discussed a German meeting. But because there were only three German members in the forum, we decided to wait till there are some more.

I think this is a great idea.

Take a look at the community built around bmwm5.com (http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=3), these guys have get togethers all the time, all over the world. Sure we haven't got the number of members as these guys do, but ya gotta start somewhere!

Art, are you still planning on being in Vancouver later this month? Could be a good time to hook up again, we had a great time last visit!

Anyone in the Vancouver/Pacific Northwest area interested?

No doubt Taylor, I wouldn't miss it! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Vancouver and the Island are two of our fav places to hang out. The long drive out there seems to be getting shorter with each visit. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hey, isn't tlcxc on the mainland now? Maybe we could all meet up? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'm in Whistler, and see a Java XC running around here most weekends, but don't think it belongs to anyone in town or on the forum.
Got my XC yesterday ( 10km on the clock) and would be keen to compare notes with more experienced local users.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Because it is July in BC, and raining of course, my brand new vehicle is sitting in my driveway COVERED WITH WATER.

Hi guys,
We have a good turn out at our volvo gatherings here in Los Angeles. All volvos welcome by the way.

Here is a current Volvo Sport America (VSA) gathering at a volvo dealership. Nice turn out...... huh.

Next time I will take my XC instead, I promise.

Hey Lydds and cbob, http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

LA would be a great place to hold an XC meet, considering the cold winters we get up here in Canada..BRRR!

Whistler would also be an ideal destination to test the XC's AWD on the Ski to Sky Highway and maybe take in a little bit of 'Apres Ski'!

Lydds, really enjoyed your pic of the VSA gathering, swaying palm trees and all. Is that your 1800 just off to the right of the photo? Great looking ride BTW! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Will probably swing by Taylor's place somewhere around the 28th of July if anyone's interested in a GTG. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hello All,

This GTG sounds like a great idea. Lets see if we can get this organized.

Also anyone know any great camp grounds around BC?

Thats it for now!

hey mike, nice to see ya http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sunday July 28th thereabouts sounds good to me.

In terms of location/activities, I'm truly open to anything but here's an idea.

Just to be somewhat central, we could meet up here in North/West Vancouver and drive up to Squamish. From there we could meet up with the Whistler club (read cbob&#33http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif and depending on the weather, either have lunch at the Howe Sound Brewing Company, or maybe do a barbecue either at Alice Lake, or if we to put our AWD's up to a bit of a test, run up Paradise Valley beside the Cheakamus River. No serious off-roading, but a nice test of the XC's stability and smoothness of ride on fireroads and mild off roading.

Here's a pic of Paradise Valley:

Anyone from other areas possibly going to be in the area for the weekend, maybe MagicDragon and GLinder? I see you're from WA and OR respectively.

In terms of camping Mike, I know of tons of good spots to camp in BC. In fact, Paradise is a great place to camp, and it's free! Where abouts are you thinking of going?

Hey Coastal,

Your idea to go to Paradise Valley seems like a great one. In fact all your ideas here are good.

Is it possible to start a new thread once we have decided on an plan, that way we can see how many of us are in? Get a head count i guess.

Im in favour for any of these. Maybe more of Paradise Valley since i've been up and down to whistler so much that the road gets pretty boring after awhile.

Thanks

If Combustion thinks the S2S road is boring, you otta try commuting.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Of course when you have a new XC, with 12 km (that's right, 12&#33http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif on the clock, and are pointing the nose north, there is hardly a trace of boredom to be found.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Coastal has a good plan.
I'm up for a Squeamish meet. There is a nice pub called The Shady Tree just off Gov't Road nort of town if we want to avoid downtown parking traffic.    http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Hey guys,

Would anyone be up for a little bit of surf and turf? 4 wheelin' up to Squamish then perhaps some paddling fun at Deep Cove. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Bob, you commute from Whistler to Vancouver? I lived up there for a couple years and had to make the trip back and forth three times every week. I still love the road but it can be trying at times, especially on weekends.

Paradise Valley and Deep Cove might but a bit too much for one day since they're about 1:15 minutes away from one another. Art, maybe you should stay in Vancouver for another day so we can experience a few more things!

Again, I'm truly open to anything so if anyone's got a strong preference to one or the other, I'll go with that. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

If we prefer to do the paddling thing, I'd probably suggest we meet somewhere in North Vancouver for brunch then hit the water.

If we prefer the Squish/Paradise option, Shady Tree sounds good to me.. easier to find too since it's just off the highway. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hello all,

Im in for the Shady Tree and Paradise!!!

If anyone needs a place to stay in Whistler i have some bonus time to use through whiski Jack. Cheap rates per night for any of their properties. ie. - 2bed condo. PM me for more info if you are interested.

This should be good. I always find it cool when you see a line of the same cars passing you on the highway!

For those of us coming from Vancouver, maybe we should meet somewhere before going to Shady Tree??

Count me in!
