That was a catchy title, thought that would get a look from you!! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I read all about the 'dirt deflectors' / 'mud flaps' in Slushie noises and I think I know what you are talking about http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/music.gif anyway followed this and that and found the link about recalls, Automotive recalls (http://www.alldata.com/TSB/0364_mo.html)
and wow I think I am lucky the car is still standing http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif let alone driving. Take a look at your year and you will see what I mean.

Question??? I take it that most of these TSB's refer to US models and not worldwide models ?

I also assume that the dealer will not recall cars for silly problems unless we complain about them (unless it is safety related) as this will cost VC a great deal of money, therefore could people help each other and SHOUT when a little problem needs attention. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I know I am going to dream about mud flaps and dirt deflectors tonite, http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif could someone explain them to me one more time...zzzz..zzz.. oooonly joking. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) are not the same thing as recalls in US Department of Transportation parlance.

Recalls are typically mandatory (on the manufacturer's part - not the owners) and are limited to safety or environmental emissions issues.

TSBs are issued by the manufacturer to provide information how to address specific repair issues that are common enough to have come to the attention of the manufacturer. Usually they are applied only when the owner complains of a problem. Often the TSB specifies replacement of troublesome components with updated designs. The TSB is usually performed free of charge as long as the vehicle is still under warranty. The TSB always specifies the affected model and year and one would expect it should apply internationally, unless of course the vehicle content is different, in which case a specific TSB may not be relevant.

If you look up virtually any other make and model of vehicle you will see a comparable list of recalls and services bulletins. Usually they are most common in the first year or two of production of a model. I think you will find that your Volvo is better than most, no particular danger of it falling apart just yet.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
