Guys,

I just purchased my first Volvo, a new MY11 XC70, and I'm looking for the oval crossbars to go with the roof rack. Can anyone recommend the best place online to buy them.

Many thanks.

I bought mine from the local Volvo dealer and managed to negotiate a 10% discount - that made them cheaper than Thule, immediate collection, and no carriage costs...

In the end though, I bought the square-section ones (rather than aero/oval) because my Kayak attachment fitted better to the square section than ovalised...

I think the Oval bars have Volvo Part number 8633211 - so have a look on google... Here's the 3 types:

8633211 Load Carrier for Rails, Oval Profile, Aluminium £121.86 RRP
8633210 Load Carrier for Rails, Square Profile £86 RRP
31253113 Load Carrier, Wing Profile for Rails £134.41

Martin, thank you for the info. Much appreciated.

I was able to find this site. Not sure if this is a good price or not but I think these are what I'm after.

You could always give your local dealer a call (armed with th epart #'s) and haggle - I got 10% off, and considering there was no carriage charge it's a pretty good deal...

I just bought a used 2007 XC70 with the Volvo 8633210 load carriers but no removal tool with it. Is there a generic torque head driver that I can use to remove them or do I need a genuine Volvo tool? If there is a generic tool, any idea what size? Thanks.

It's just a horrid plastic attempt at a torque wrench (quit effective though, as it makes you treat it with respect - in case it breaks!!)

AFAIK it's a standard Torx socket.

If you're really desperate, I guess you could try a cross head screwdriver - (Don't)

It's a Torx 30 Security. Needs a long shaft. Home Depot carries a set.

The replacement torque from Volvo is cheap.... Dealer may even just give you one.

If you know anyone with Thule bars, they might be able to help you. I understand the square load bars are rebadged Thule.
